Ingredients

For the Fish

  • 1 pound white fish fillets such as cod, tilapia, halibut, or mahi mahi
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray

For the Creamy Taco Sauce

  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • Pinch of salt

For the Tacos

  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the fish

  • Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. Cut them into 1-inch thick strips so they fit easily inside the tacos.

Step 2: Season the coating

  • In a shallow dish, mix the panko breadcrumbs, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.

Step 3: Coat the fish

  • Brush the fish with olive oil and lime juice. Press each piece into the breadcrumb mixture until lightly coated on all sides.

Step 4: Air fry the fish

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F if your model requires it. Spray the basket with cooking spray. Place the fish pieces in a single layer and spray the tops lightly. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily.

Step 5: Make the sauce

  • In a small bowl, stir together sour cream or Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, lime juice, honey, garlic powder, chili powder, and salt.

Step 6: Warm the tortillas

  • Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet for about 20 to 30 seconds per side, or wrap them in a damp paper towel and microwave for 20 to 30 seconds.

Step 7: Assemble the tacos

  • Add cabbage to each tortilla, then top with air-fried fish, sauce, avocado, red onion, and cilantro.

Step 8: Serve

  • Serve right away with lime wedges on the side.
